Also Julia got to discover things about her parents that helped Julia better understand them, this created a better relationship and connection with her mom. I would consider this part to be my favorite because she got to be with her family from Mexico. From the whole novel my favorite part of the book was when Julia went to Mexico. His liveliness would make the dinner fun and interesting. Though he had many things going on, Juanga is always friendly and funny throughout the book. For example it was shown later in the book, Juanga was dealing with things at home due to his sexuality. Juanga has a very positive energy no matter what is going on with his life.
If I had to choose one character to have dinner with it would be Juanga. Lorena says what was on her mind and is very straight up with Julia. In this book Lorena was my favorite character for many reasons, one being that she is a very genuine and authentic person. In this novel it covers topics that consist of mental health, relationship struggles, sexuality, death, self harm, and first generation struggles. Julia is the main character in this novel, she is a 15 year old girl who is a Mexican American. Sánchez, it shows a Mexican family who faces many obstacles and struggles, one of them being grieving a recent death in the family.
